As members of Carers Trust, we can apply on behalf of carers to access specific grant funding open for individual adult carers aged 16 and over.

These grants, of up to £300, are for items or activities that will benefit carers in their caring role. It may be that you need a household item such as a bed, a break, or the chance to join in support activities with other carers.

For example:

  • Breaks for carers, with or without the person they care for
  • Items for the home including cookers, fridges, beds, washing machines
  • Driving lessons and other travel costs relating to caring roles
  • Courses and materials to develop carers skills and personal development
  • Home repairs
  • Short term or time limited replacement care

To apply, please discuss this with your Carer Wellbeing Facilitator at Gateshead Carers who will be able to advise if you are eligible and if so will then be able to submit an application on your behalf.  As part of the grant application you will need to provide some financial information e.g. any benefits you receive, the total household income and expenditure and any accessible savings you may have.
