Carers deserve a break; help us give them a place to unwind.

Since 2015, unpaid carers have taken free short breaks from their caring role, giving them time to de-stress, relax, and enjoy the Cumbrian countryside at our charity holiday home: Caldew House.

Over the last 9 years, the house has hosted hundreds of holidays and is now in great need of a refurbishment.

We have launched a crowdfunder to raise vital funds for Caldew House so that we can provide new furnishings and need your help to breathe new life into the property with fresh furnishings.

New Reward Added: If you donate over £50 you can choose to be entered into our Caldew House holiday raffle. You and up to 5 others could be taking a 4-night stay at our newly refurbished Cumbrian Holiday Home. For more information and to get involved, please take a look at our Crowdfunder page.

Who would be helped by my donation?

Unpaid carers. They sacrifice so much of themselves to look after their loved ones - we believe they should have the opportunity for a break without having to make any more sacrifices.

"60% of the UK population will provide unpaid care at some point in their lives".

Unpaid carers support their family and friends who need them across all health and social care needs such as: Dementia, mental health issues, cancer, physical disabilities, Autism and learning disabilities.

Unpaid carers;

  • provide over 100+ hours of unpaid care per week.
  • suffer much poorer mental and physical health because of their caring role.
  • are likely to give up work entirely to care for their loved ones.
  • feel socially isolated.
  • are twice as likely to use a food bank compared to the general population.
  • desperately need a short break from their caring role.
